Canary filed its 8-A for an XRP ETF, potentially listing on Nasdaq as soon as tomorrow. It would be the second U.S. XRP fund after Rex-Osprey’s XRPR (~$138M AUM). Alt-ETF demand looks real (see Solana’s fund growth) as the SEC weighs ~90 single-asset/strategy products.
My Take
Fastest path to fresh retail flow isn’t a new chain—it’s wrappers that fit into brokerage plumbing. If day-one volume is decent, watch for knock-on bids across large-cap alts.
JOHN DEATON RUNS AT MARKEY
Pro-XRP attorney John Deaton is jumping back into Massachusetts politics—this time challenging Sen. Ed Markey. He’s running as a Republican and taking crypto donations (BTC, ETH, SOL, XRP, even BONK/DOGE).
My Take
Fairshake backs pro-crypto, not just one party. In a deep-blue state, they’ll spend only if polling tightens. Otherwise, expect resources to chase winnables.
$105K FEE FOR A $10 SEND
A BTC user burned ~$105,000 in fees on a $10 transfer—almost certainly a bungled custom-fee setting. Most wallets protect against this, but fat-finger risk is real. Recovery is unlikely unless miners voluntarily return funds (and here, fees likely spread across multiple blocks).
My Take
If you tinker with fee sliders, test with dust first. And maybe… don’t tinker after “a couple.”
CIRCLE/USDC: BIG TOPLINE, BIGGER QUESTIONS
Circle beat with $740M Q3 revenue; reserve income +66% YoY as USDC’s cap climbed (~$61B → $76B since June). Circle launched the ARK L1 testnet with blue-chip partners and is “exploring” an ARK token.
My Take
Great revenue. The number I want: net income. Stablecoin economics print cash—until they don’t. Show margins, not vibes.
CELEB VOICE CLONES GO MAINSTREAM
Matthew McConaughey and Michael Caine licensed AI voice replicas with ElevenLabs (McConaughey will dub his newsletter in Spanish). Creators like Guillermo del Toro and Emma Thompson remain loudly anti-AI; unions push for consent + crypto-grade provenance.
My Take
The line is simple: informed consent, revocable rights, cryptographic proof. Everything else turns into “ScarJo-gate.”
DEF I SAFETY: RAILS, NOT VIBES
Chaos Labs’ Omar Goldberg: safer DeFi = continuous stress-tests, cleaner on-chain data, better oracles, tighter agent guardrails. He’s bullish on stables/institutions—but wants sturdier circuit breakers for thin markets.
My Take
If AI risk engines don’t become standard, the next liquidity hole will be televised.
SPOT BITCOIN ETFS: BEST DAY IN A MONTH
U.S. spot BTC ETFs took in $524M, led by BlackRock and Fidelity. That’s the first solid print in weeks and the kind of flow that actually matters.
My Take
One green day doesn’t flip the tape, but it does cap the doomers—for now.
