Robinhood's Avalanche of News: Stablecoin, Tokenization, and More
Robinhood is crusing into some major news on several fronts. Plus, I take some shots at Matt about his preference for Michael Saylor!
Good evening, good morning, and good afternoon wherever you are in the world, and welcome to another episode of Daily Crypto News. Today is Tuesday, July 1, 2025.
I think July is the best summer month if you ask me.
It’s once again, Kyle here for Matt. Believe me, he’ll be back. Maybe he’ll drive to a town near you?
Anyways - Matt did have some feedback for me. Well, maybe not feedback. Yesterday, the news dropped that Michael Saylor’s Strategy is buying more bitcoin. Adding another 4,980 bitcoins to the balance sheets. That brings his balance to over half a million bitcoin.
Who anointed Saylor the King of Bitcoin? Maybe this is like a Napoleonic scenario and he took the crown himself, but I don’t think so.Bitcoin strategy is great. Yesterday we spoke about a Spanish coffee house, Vanadi, taking this approach. But should they now become the ultimate spokesperson of bitcoin or coffee beans? Maybe part of this skepticism is a sort of basic anti-authoritarian tendency. But as a decentralized system, one of with an anonymous leader, its naturally a system that does not have a leader. It’s almost on purpose by the creator or creators. There is the Voltaire thought that if the leader didnt exist it would be necessary to invent him.
But I’m not a fan of this consolidation of power. At that point, Bitcoin loses its very essence; it’s no longer decentralized, liquid, or usable as a store of value for anyone else.
Apparently, Matt likes Saylor and is into his Strategy at Strategy. I think we both can agree on a potential National Reserve for Bitcoin being a positive thing. But a Bitcoin King or President - and basically self-proclaimed. C’mon man. Get off his nuts, por favor.
