Good morning, everybody. It’s Friday, October 10th, 2025. I hope you enjoyed having Mr. Quile (aka Comrade Kyle) yesterday—I did. This one’s late because I got trapped on a phone call. Worth it. 😅

Crypto jobs: salaries are sliding (and hiring got… normal?)
What happened: Dragonfly’s 2024–25 compensation report (85 companies, 3k+ roles) shows total comp down at most seniorities. Entry-level got hit hardest; mid-level flat; execs up—classic barbell. Hiring cycles average ~2.8 weeks with ~4 interviews. Engineering is ~⅔ of headcount; non-tech roles still scarce. Western Europe’s share of hires nearly doubled (20% → 40%), helped by clearer rules and VC density. 54% of firms are fully remote; only 2% fully in-office.
My Take:
This is crypto growing up. Less rocket-ship pay for juniors, more structure, more Europe, fewer “hire first, figure it out later” vibes. If you want in, get technical (infra, security, data, onchain analytics), or get very revenue-adjacent (BD with real pipelines). Tokens-as-comp still matter, but cash matters more again.
Pavel Durov: “We’re running out of time to save the free internet”
What happened: Telegram’s founder blasted EU “chat control,” UK digital ID, and Australia’s age-verification push. The big gripe: client-side scanning before encryption = breaking end-to-end security. He warns the “freedom countries” are adopting control tech and that our generation could be the last to truly have online freedoms.
My Take:
“Think of the children” is becoming the all-access pass to permanent surveillance. You don’t preserve safety by nuking privacy for everyone. If scanning happens before messages are encrypted, it’s not private—it’s theater.
OpenAI says its newest ChatGPTs cut political bias ~30%
What happened: Their Model Behavioral division reports reduced bias in ChatGPT-5 Instant and ChatGPT-5 Thinking vs 4o/03, with rare/low-severity bias in stress tests. Goal: balanced, fact-based answers and less political tilt.
My Take:
Two truths at once: (1) measuring “political bias” is slippery, (2) hard-mode alignment does make models more useful at scale. I care less about the exact percentage and more about transparent eval suites and reproducible audits. Show your work.
Solana cool-off + ETF watch
What happened: Daily txs fell ~50% from July’s peak (125M → 64M). Analysts frame it as normalization + capital rotation (BNB ecosystem running hot), with some validator/UX friction. ETF: generic listing standards mean the final Solana spot ETF greenlight is largely “baked in.” Bitwise slashed its fee to 20 bps—catnip for flows if launch is smooth.
My Take:
Volume ebb ≠ thesis break. If fees start a race to the bottom, distribution and market plumbing decide the winner. Keep an eye on onchain retention (active wallets, cohort stickiness) more than raw tx counts.
Mayer Multiple says BTC still isn’t “hot”
What happened: BTC near ATH (~$121k) while Mayer Multiple ~1.16, well below the ~2.4 “overbought” zone from prior cycles. Last notable peak was Mar 2024 at 1.84 with BTC ~72k. Some see fuel for a push toward $180k before overheating; shorts eye a reasonable pullback to $114k this year.
My Take:
Stack the signals: neutral Fear & Greed, middling RSI, low-ish Mayer Multiple. The market doesn’t look frothy; it looks… patiently bid. A dip to 114k would be normal, not narrative-breaking.
Mailbag
Eric: “Isn’t Zcash pseudo-anonymous? Monero’s the privacy king; it even ate a 51% attempt.”
My Take:
Zcash can be private (shielded), but most usage historically hasn’t been fully shielded. Monero defaults to privacy, hence its reputation. Trade-offs exist: auditability/compliance vs default privacy. Pick your poison.
Tuen: “Trust business advice from people who are good at that field—not, say, Bezos on relationships or Musk on social cues.”
My Take:
Exactly. Skill is domain-specific. Track repeatability and context, not celebrity net worth.
