Crossroads of Trust: Stablecoins, Treasuries, and the Future of Crypto

Manifest the Tech Destiny! At the Wyoming Blockchain Symposium, Michelle Bowman, Federal Reserve, says the U.S. stands at a crossroads: lead innovation or fall behind.

Welcome to another episode of DailyCryptoNews.

Let’s hit a listener question out the gate.

Beal has asked about a CryptoRoth IRA where you control your keys. Frankly, Beal, I don’t believe this is possible. Simply because an IRA or even things like ETFs do not give you direct custody of these assets. Think about an IRA. Unless you are able to open your own brokerage house and fund the liquidity for a custodied IRA, provided, then I think you are out of luck.

Regulated markets have an extremely high threshold for what assets they can custody. Unless you are a qualified custodian, you wouldn't be able to hold the IRA yourself. Then, peel back the entire onion that is the regulatory front around which assets can be custodied into different retirement accounts. It was only recently that the President Trump said a bill that made this possible - so we have a basic framework to start. But no products.

To be honest, it's really an oxymoron.

Dane also asked about a potential 51% hashrate control of BTC by two miners. Monero just went through something similar. I’ll have to look into this. We covered Monero on Trends with Benefits over the weekend, so check that out on Substack

Now let’s get to some headlines:

  • Tether minted another $1B USDT on Ethereum, fueling the eternal questions about stability.

    Image
  • Pump.fun surges past $800M revenue while Bonk.fun collapses, showing Solana memecoin momentum shifts.

Image
  • Public companies and funds now hold over 2% of ETH supply, with Bitmine, SharpLink, BlackRock, and others ramping up accumulation.

Image
  • Fed Governor Michelle Bowman says, while at SALT in Wyoming, that the U.S. is at a “crossroads” on whether to lead or lag in blockchain innovation. Here she is on stage:

  • Binance’s new Plasma USDT product filled its $250M cap in 20 minutes, offering yield plus XPL airdrops. APRs up to 48%!

    Markets Snapshot

  • Fear & Greed Index: 53 (Neutral leaning Greed)

  • Ethereum Treasuries: climbing sharply, institutions still hungry.

Little Bits

  • Monad Trading Cards: 5K CT users got drops, with peer nominations driving recognition.

  • 1Kosmos: Cybersecurity startup raised $57M Series B + $10M credit line, building passwordless ID verification.

  • Across Protocol: Launched single-step native bridging between Ethereum and Solana, aiming to reduce 13% drop-off from clunky multi-step bridging.
