Welcome to another episode of DailyCryptoNews.
Happy Friday folks. Summer is winding down. Winter is coming up for those down South. Did you guys see those photos of Santiago, Chile? The snow is incredible. When I lived in Chile, I always loved when Santiago was coated in snow - or even days after it rained. The city always felt cleaner and incredibly natural. Shoutout to the weones down there.
Thanks for the comments on living around the world as well Eric. Living like a local seems to be your answer. Maybe it only takes 6 months for you? And yes, recording with a better mic and hella practice is making a difference. Gracias amigo.
Christopher has asked about trading bots on Spotify. Yes - there are so many bots out there. Most crypto alpha is going down in Telegram groups. When people talk about the trenches, they usually are indirectly referring to groups of traders across TG groups. So in that sense, many folks will use bots directly embedded into Telegram. Deposit 1 SOL into something like the BonkBot or BananaGun and let her rip.
My other advice would be to take a lot of care around how you use your trading bots. Beware of setting yourself up to lose money.
Last week, we had a question I was unable to answer: Are there any direct custody retirement plans for digital assets. Jayson recommended checking out Unchained. Unchained looks legit, but you’re still having to give power over to the broker.
This is actually a really important point. There is a broker/custody law that has hindered crypto for years. This is, arguably, one of the biggest hurdles for digital assets. There are many laws that prevent institutions from directly holding, not just digital assets like Bitcoin or Ethereum or even memes like Doge or Shibu, but variations of ETFs as well. They are potentially limited to publicly traded assets, or they won’t trade them due to risk profile. Albeit that last part is a personal decision.
Essentially, my point still stands that I don’t think it’s possible yet.
Finally, Maddie C has asked about how to judge the risk of assets on Euler that have crazy high APYs. There are a few ways to do this. First, check the asset itself. Is it a stablecoin, is it a small-cap micro token? What is it? For example, if it’s a stablecoin: what is it collateralized with? I’m that’s the essential question you should ask, like every time. I heard someone call stablecoins digital euros today. So, what will be the Greece of your stablecoin? Will it be the other bad stablecoin it's over-collateralized with? Even USDC is not outside of this stuff - look at the Silvergate and Silicon Valley bank runs of 2023 that caused USDC to depeg.
Again, remember to leave us some questions or comments on Spotify or Substack. We appreciate your input, and it makes the show more engaging.
